raina Lee

Breaking the Mold

Working primarily in ceramic glaze and clay, her practice is in conversation with classical ceramics as well as painting. She creates painterly compositions with extreme colors, volcanic textures, crackly finishes only possible through her custom ceramic glazes. She works on a range of forms— classical Chinese and Greek vessels, extruded 3D printed ceramic reliefs, and slab glaze paintings. Her work is influenced video games, science fiction futurism, and a Southern California immigrant upbringing.

LA times feature | 26 Sept 2024

LA  times 2 page feature in LA Crafted section : "All the world's a ceramicist's muse"  , Raina Lee shares her views from her tree house studio   with Grace Xue .
